Today a muse called me to explore Neptune, and look at it from both, astrological and Human Design perspectives. Neptune is the 8th and farthest known planet orbiting the Sun. In the Solar System, it is the 4th-largest planet by diameter, the 3rd-most-massive planet, and the densest giant planet. It is 17 times the mass of Earth, and its orbital period is 165 years. Neptune is composed primarily of gases and liquids, and as such it has no well-defined solid surface.
The planet was named after Roman God of Seas and Oceans, and is symbolized by the sign of trident, which can be seen in a Human Design Bodygraph. This name was also conditioned by its blue color due to the traces of methane in its regions. If you look at the night sky, Neptune is not visible to the unaided eye. Just like the Uranus, Neptune is considered “ice giant”. Its great distance from the Sun makes Neptune’s outer atmosphere one of the coldest atmospheres in the whole Solar System.
Now, moving to Neptune’s role in the Human Design System. Neptune is an interesting one in the myriad of planets, and although it can be frightening, I like thinking about it, reflecting on its positions in different gates and Designs, contemplating its dance through transits with a larger impact on the Earth and the whole humanity. In Human Design, Neptune is one of the Outer Planets, bringing the themes of learning and education, and representing lifelong educational topics. Following its name and watery nature, Neptune is associated with deep waters, hydration, and its position in various gates can have a deep impact on the liquids in one’s body. When looking at the conscious Neptune’s position on the Personality side, here it represents what is hidden, veiled. It is a Veil laid upon a specific feature of your character. Because of that, you can never know with a 100% certainty about this side of your Personality and Mind. Every time you want to explore this side, and go deeper into the “waters”, Neptune will keep hiding that from you. The best way to live out and express this aspect of your Personality is to surrender to the Neptunian nature, and let it unfold for you the way naturally.
In my Design, both Neptunian positions are defined by the 11th that is a part of my definition, – Channel of Curiosity. Do I have an easy access to my ideas? Vaguely. I never fully know where they come from, and the only way I can deal with them is just becoming more and more aware of this configuration, letting go of the attempts to reach the bottom of it. But I enjoy them when they come to the surface, when they are called out, and then enlighten the moment with inspiration.
The other thing that’s fascinating, is watching the Global Program with all the planets and their journey through the wheel, moving from one gate to another. I like observing the impact of the Program and planetary transits on society and nature, human beings and their lives, bodies and minds. Now, in the Global Consciousness Program, Neptune is moving between veiling and unveiling certain aspects and qualities of the gates in their impact on the Earth and humanity, and dissolving certain things that are not necessary anymore in our Maia.
Journeying through the wheel, Neptune can move directly, following the sequence of the gates and lines, or move retrograde, returning to the previous gates and lines. It can spend in one gate more than a few months, and the more it stays there, the deeper is its impact. Retrograde movement doesn’t diminish the effect of Neptune’s deeds, but it slows down certain processes and can bring some experiences, concepts, and memories from the past, offering a chance to review and process them differently, dissolve and let go what is not needed anymore. If you are correct in your process, Neptune can help to recognize and decondition certain aspects of your nature.
As of now, we have less than 500 days till the new Global Cycle in 2027 knocks the door. In 2020, the last 7-year period of the Global Cycle of the Cross of Planning began, and brought global changes preparing the humanity for the upcoming times. Since the end of January 2020 till March 2022, Neptune has been firmly sitting in the 22nd gate, gate of Grace, source of emotional individual wave of social openness or not. Within this timeframe, Neptune dissolved many concepts about what grace could look like in a society, families, bringing to the surface sudden sharp spikes of emotional outbursts when lockdown and social limitations laid upon human beings to preserve their health and lives, were too heavy to tolerate. Neptune mutated our socialness and behavior with strangers, due to the social distancing rule introduced all over the world. Emotional quality of the social environment changed, and nervousness was a well-sensed part of it.
The next place for Neptune in its pilgrimage through the gates became the 36th gate of Emotional Crisis, nervousness over inexperience, waves between hope and pain, and crashing waves because of the failed expectations. Here, Neptune stayed since March 2022 till February 11th, 2025. Unlike individualness of the 22nd emotional gate, the nature of the 36th gate is collective: it’s about sharing experience, and crisis, emotions, nervousness, and these were fully present in society and minds of humanity. The abstract energy always carries with it a potential of expectations, and whenever there are expectations, they will inevitably lead to the blame and shame game. These were years where Neptune was testing humanity and educating them about inexperience, teaching to recognize the emotions and emotionality of the social environment, and dissolving the learned concepts and beliefs about crisis itself: “Is it my personal crisis? Or is it a collective crisis and it has nothing to do with me? Do I really have a crisis or I was misled to believe it was mine?” And in-between, someone could learn the lesson from Neptune about how to deal with crises and move from inexperience to experience.
Finally, since February 2025, Neptune moved to the 25th gate: this is the gate of the Vessel of Love, representing the Universal Love, Spirit of Self, blood, and gate of the G center with its relation to place and identity. As a role gate, this is a gate of the Shaman, Warrior, and Priest/Priestess. It will stay here till May 24th, 2026. So, what is Neptune’s job in this gate? Neptune is mutating our sense of individual Spirit and our sense of inner Warrior. It empowers or dissolves someone’s sense of self-esteem, their readiness to be self-centered and value their own life. Because everything in life is a duality, and we live in a deeply homogenized world, the other side of a Universal Love is a lack of love, cold-blooded senseless no-love for humans, animals, and life itself, with a potential of losing or destroying identity if you are in the wrong place. Globally arising military conflicts and wars significantly diminished population on the planet, showing that individual human lives lost their value. Competitiveness and comparisons are also byproducts of Neptunian work in the 25th gate, veiling or unveiling the soft spots in the society or in human characters. If you live correctly according to your nature, and you are sensitive enough to the frequency of Neptune, it can open its veil to enhance your self-love and your ability to survive in the world, while you are a part of the vast global cellular construct of the Universe. Being also a Lock of the Global Cycles, the 25th gate via the agency of Neptune gives us a flavor of a future with its mutative individual manifestation.
Currently, Neptune in the 25th gate is in its retrograde movement, till December 10th, 2025. That slows down certain social and personal processes for human beings, and can even bring some memories, experiences, mental concepts from the past for you to refine them, re-write, and polish in order to take away only what contributes to your empowerment and survival. If you operate according to your nature, Strategy & Authority, you can learn from Neptune what exactly you need to refine for your process, and what needs to be left in the past.
Neptune along with other planets represents a great global educational institution, being at the same time a deep misinformation and misleading agent for the homogenized world. But even misinforming and misleading can serve a purpose in educating our minds to see and develop our personal Passenger Consciousness. It can happen only naturally, when you align the frequency of your signature through your personal correctness, living out your Strategy & Authority, and liberating the mind from the decision-making, you naturally train it to See.
Thus, as a result of your correctness you come to the state of existential self-love, and your presence in those places where your survival is possible and your unique purpose can unfold, is a natural byproduct of you living out your Type and Design.
