Born as Robert Alan Krakower on April 9^th, 1948 in Montreal, Canada, this man is known as Ra Uru Hu, Messenger, Founder, and the first Teacher of Human Design System. He spent his early years in Montreal, Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, and pursued his career in the business world working as an advertising executive, magazine publisher, and media producer. He was a very intelligent man, and he read plenty of books, which greatly impacted his perspective on the world and people later. The arts were his deep source of inspiration, and he expressed himself as a composer and performer throughout his life. Artistic creativity was also the way to live out his melancholy, – he was very individual by Design.

In 1983, Ra left Canada and went travelling, eventually ending up in the Spanish island of Ibiza, where he has been working as a school teacher for a few years.

In January 1987, right after he entered his Uranus Opposition cycle in December 1986, and still living on the island of Ibiza, he had a mystical experience, which he called an Encounter with a “Voice”, an intelligence that was much more superior than anything he had ever experienced or perceived. The Encounter with a “Voice” lasted for eight days and nights, during which Ra was accompanied by his dog Barley. This mystical event brought the knowledge that is known nowadays as the “Human Design System”. In 1989, after the Encounter with the Voice, Ra Uru Hu wrote the Rave I’Ching, which became the foundation upon which the Human Design System was founded and which was the key to unlocking the code of our Genetics. The I’Ching (or otherwise called Book of Changes) is an oldest of the Chinese classic texts, existing for over 3 000 years, and used as an ancient augury tool.

Before his Encounter with the Voice, Ra went through a series of events, preparing his body for this mystical Encounter. After the Encounter happened, and the “Voice” transferred all this information, Ra Uru Hu called it a deconstruction, referring to what happened to his body. Later, when he was laying out this knowledge, he was also transferring this knowledge to his students, shaping it into a system, experimenting with different aspects, and substantiating its logical truth. Altogether, he dedicated the next 25 years of his life to the development and teaching of the Human Design System throughout the world, awakening those who were ready, to their true nature and liberating them from the burden of their mental decision-making, often expressed as a Not Self. He empowered many students, and trained them to become HDS teachers and analysts. He taught many courses, leaving his empowerment legacy through audio, video, and digital materials (transcribed and written). He lived with his family in the United States, Germany, but most of the time they lived together on the island of Ibiza, Spain, where he first became the Messenger of the Human Design System through Encounter with the “Voice” in January, 1987, and where he passed away in March, 2011.

My life didn’t bring me to meet and know Ra Uru Hu, and once in a while I experience some melancholic regrets about it. But his impact is and will always be perceivable and empowering me. Just like the words he used to finish his emails: “Love Yourself. You are unique. You have no choice”. And still, the penetrating power of his voice and his teaching had a huge impact on my transformation and education. Every day of my life, I feel lucky and grateful for meeting Human Design System, as one of the best things that ever happened in my life. While Ra Uru Hu is the greatest teacher with an extraordinary level of awareness. Thank you, Ra.
